Strange Boys 03:12
I've been left all alone to think about the government but I'm still so clueless, now ain't that the truth well see there's my old man, he's screaming 'there ain't no need to worry, son' but I don't know.. it seems there's all of these rules, you gotta do good in school man, I just wanna sit and be while I'm still young & I still get seasick how I feel right over you screaming, baby please, I'm three feet apart from certain tragedy I've been felled to this ground in a puddle of drool it ain't safe, not to call you around and I've been left for a fool, I'm caught singing the blues man, I just can't figure it out but if you bring the hens, well I'll bring the cocks and we can make this a party I've been caught up in a net, I feel strung up to die by all you jokers and their wives I'm pulling at these strings of your marionette lives man, they're all living so comfortably, woo! this country boy's spied a high city girl I hope she'll come lay in this hay tonight we could shoot for falling stars & keep each other held so tight soon up creep the fears as morning's drawing near I she'll stay with me, instead because I think about nothing, no one, no body man, this girl is surely too good to be mine I just can't seem to sleep at night not without you on my mind, girl

Independent 03:32
after forty-nine years, I'd been messin' around I'd spent forty-nine years, with my head in the clouds after forty-nine years, I've been stumblin' round but it sure ain't worth the clowns ai'ght, flick your cigarettes, boys it's best if you all leave this town go on, flick your cigarette, girl and kiss - goddammit, don't you be so proud just kiss me now, I said hey.. all you rich kids sit, just getting boring as we poor kids sit, growing bolder if at first we can't seem to buy our shit well, from these rich kids it'll get stolen.. I said hey, how d'ya do? what's the point in believing in hell, when all you seem to do is yell? you're saying: 'independent sounds are fumbling now' but, uh, what's the point in the crowds? I'll say it, go! oh, how d'ya do? what'cha lookin' so stoopid, huh?

about

This is a mixtape, of sorts. Marmalade is quite literally the first recording of us as a band (I remember us all giggling, feeling incredibly chuffed to get away with playing one of two things (F#-A-B, F#-B-A; B-C#-E, B-E-C#).

Strange Boys is the first song I wrote when I got the idea for Sleeping, Independence is maybe our third? song.
Either way, I lost the recordings for the album, so Jack came up to Wellington and we mangled them together over the course of two days, three nights.

Enjoy our rough beauty.
